Wild Acadia creates wild crafted products made from sustainably foraged botanicals harvested from the Acadian Forest and coastline of Nova-Scotia, such as healing salves, soothing creams, lip balms, syrups and botanical oils. These products use all natural ingredients and are entirely handmade in small batches. Drawing from traditional methods of folk medicine, my products focus on combining the known beneficial properties from local plants such as antioxidants, analgesic, antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-inflammation to create herbal aids that target specific conditions like dry skin, sore muscles and joint pains or to generally help with treating small cuts, bruises, burns and rashes.

Spruce Pitch Lip Balms and Salves
These lips balm and salves contain all natural ingredients. They were hand made in my kitchen using spruce pitch that I harvested from various forests around Nova Scotia, locally sourced bees wax and coconut oil. Spruce pitch is produced by the tree in order to heal and protect external wounds in its bark and branches, giving it anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antiseptic and analgesic properties when applied medicinally. It has been used in salves for centuries by First Nations and in folk medicines for treating skin infections, insect bites, chapped hands, eczema, cuts, burns, ulcers and rashes. It has also has been suggested to act as a natural sunscreen. The pleasant forest aroma of the spruce pitch has a grounding and calming effect.
Chaga
What is it?
Chaga is a special type of fungus that grows primarily on birch trees in northern climates. The chaga mushroom has the appearance of hard burnt charcoal on the exterior with a golden yellow-orange-brown interior and has a history of medicinal use. Usually brewed as tea or made into a tincture, chaga is considered a "super-food", contributing to a wide range of health benefits.
Chaga is one of the richest foods in anti-oxydants, which help support cellular regeneration, detoxification, lower cholestorol and possibly even help prevent and fight cancer by reducing oxidative stress. It is rich in other nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, potassium and B-complex vitamins. Additionally, chaga has been linked to fighting inflammation, lowering blood sugar and helping to strengthen the immune system. |
